FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

People enter this process at all stages. Sometimes, they need help figuring out what’s holding them back and other times they know exactly what they want, but just need help getting there.

By seeking therapy, you are investing in yourself. Therapy will help you discover who you are. It will help you manage and cope with the triggers, symptoms, and behaviors that get in your way by allowing you a safe space to express yourself.

Just by being here, you’ve already done the hardest part, so keep up the good momentum and reach out so you can continue on your journey!

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes! Schedule your free consultation and avoid the phone and email tag! You will have 15 minutes on the phone with me to let me know all about what you are looking for and what you need, and to ask any questions you may have about anything related to the process.

Are you seeing clients virtually or in person?

Well, which do you prefer? Both options are always available for each session. My computer system defaults to Telehealth, so please confirm with me prior to your appointment if you plan to come in or do a virtual session. If you are sick or have been exposed to someone who is sick, I ask that we do a Telehealth session for everyone’s safety. I do require clients who are seen in office to be fully vaccinated and boosted for Covid-19.

What happens at my first appointment?

During your first appointment, we will review some highlights from the paperwork you signed and then we will talk about YOUR STRENGTHS, YOUR STRUGGLES, and YOUR GOALS. It’s totally normal to feel uncomfortable or nervous during our first session, so I will do my best to make you as feel as comfortable as possible. Our relationship is the most important tool we have in helping you be successful, so we will work on building that from the start.

Do you take my insurance?

I am currently an IN-NETWORK provider with United Healthcare/Optum and Aetna. If you are utilizing insurance, it is your responsibility to make sure that all benefit information is correct before our sessions begin, otherwise you may be responsible for any charges not covered by insurance.

**Insurance companies require me to submit a diagnosis for treatment to justify medical necessity. If you have questions regarding insurance benefits, please reach out to your insurance carrier directly.**

For more information about fees, please see Investment.

What is your availability?

My office hours are  typically Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11am – 5:30pm and Thursdays from 10am – 3pm. If you need a time that’s outside of those hours, don’t hesitate to ask and we can work together to find a mutually agreeable time.

For active clients (with a future appointment scheduled), I am available outside of those hours via email or text for NON-EMERGENCY situations only (please allow at least 24 hours for a response).

**If you are experiencing a mental health emergency  please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.**

What if I need to cancel/reschedule an appointment?

No problem! Let me know by email or text at least 48 hours in advance so I can offer that time to someone else and you can avoid the cancelation fee. Telehealth is always an option if you are sick or unable to make it to the office at your scheduled time. Should you choose to reschedule, if it’s within the same week as your appointment, you will not be charged a late cancellation fee.

More information about the attendance policy is available in the Office Policies document in your intake paperwork.
